About Our Library
The Elma Turner Library, located in Nelson’s CBD, is a modern and vibrant community hub and the largest of Nelson Public Libraries’ three branches. It offers a wide range of services, including free Wi-Fi, access to computers, printing and photocopying, and a bookable meeting room. The library features an extensive collection of books, audiobooks, and digital resources for all ages as well as a library of things that includes board games, book club sets and sewing machines. It is the only one of Nelson’s branches to host a temperature-controlled research room which holds local taonga including the Nelson Heritage Collection, the Māori Heritage Collection and several other research collections. It also hosts various community programmes and events that cater to different interests, from children’s activities to adult learning opportunities. As a central part of Nelson’s cultural landscape, the Elma Turner Library promotes lifelong learning, creativity, and community wellbeing.
