Class and Early Childhood Group Visits
Library visits
Organise a visit to the library for your class or early childhood group. From library tours and book browsing to Story Times, we can cater visits to suit your group’s needs. Visits can be self-directed or assisted by staff.
Library memberships
For individual students, we can supply forms that can be sent home with students prior to the visit. Once returned, completed with a guardian’s details and signature, we can organise cards to be ready for your visit.
For schools and early childhood centres, we offer an organisational membership which a principal or manager can sign for to borrow items for a class.
Borrowing
Teachers and students are welcome to borrow items from the library during their visit. However, we do recommend that teachers communicate with parents and caregivers that their child has borrowed a library item, as they will be responsible for the return of the item.
For curriculum and special interest topics where our supply may be limited (such as Matariki and ANZAC Day resources), schools are encouraged to utilise National Library’s Services to Schools collections, for the best outcomes for their students. More information about this service can be found on the National Library website under Services to Schools Lending Service.
Digital Resources
Check out our range of digital resources! These can be accessed with a Nelson Public Libraries Card and can be used in the classroom or at home.
