Summer Scavenger Hunt
Friday 3 January - Wednesday 12 February, all three libraries.
Visit any of our three libraries this summer and complete the Summer Scavenger Hunt!
Each library has a different scavenger hunt which means another entry into the prize draw. By visiting each branch you'll also cross off a couple of the Summer Reading Challenge badges!
Prizes drawn Wednesday 12 February, winners will be contacted by phone.
Decoupage Book Safe
Tuesday 3 December, 3.30 - 4.30pm, Elma Turner Library.
Come by and decorate a book safe to hide away your treasures and keepsakes or alternatively gift to someone special. All materials supplied.
Bookings required. For children ages 10+.
Make a Bookmark
Wednesday 4 December, 3.30 - 4.30pm, Elma Turner Library.
Come and join us at Elma Turner Library to make your own unique bookmark! Never lose your place in an adventure again.
For children ages 5+. Younger children will need the help of a grown-up.
Macramé Keyrings - Teen Event
Thursday 5 December, 3.30 - 5pm, Elma Turner Library.
Learn some basic macramé skills and create a stunning macramé keyring. Keep it for yourself or gift it to someone
special.
Ages 13 - 19. Bookings Required.
Fabric Ornaments
Tuesday 10 December, 3.30 - 4.30pm, Elma Turner Library.
Using some simple hand sewing skills create a fabric ornament to add some cheer to any space! These palm sized embellishments are perfect for gifting or as a keepsake for you to enjoy. For children 8+. Booking required.
Pop-Up Cards
Wednesday 12 December, 3.30 - 4.30pm, Elma Turner Library
Learn how to make your own pop-up cards in this drop-in craft session.
Ages 5+, Younger children will need the help of their grown-up.
Summer Snow Globes - Fully Booked.
Tuesday 17 December, 3.30 - 5pm, Elma Turner Library.
Join us at Elma Turner Library to produce your own unique Summer ‘Snow’ Globe! Let glitter rain down on a scene of your own creation! All materials supplied.

Book Tasting
Wednesday 18 December, 3.30pm - 5pm, Elma Turner Library.
Get Summer Reading Ready with our book tasting. Explore genres and authors you may not have tried yet, get recommendations from staff and check out the latest books! Aimed at Junior and Senior fiction readers.
Summer Story Time
Wednesday 15 January, 10.30 - 11am, Nightingale Library Memorial.
Join us at Nellie Nightingale Library Memorial for an outdoor, summer-ific Story Time. Stories, songs, and bubbles followed by a summer themed craft. Best for under 5s.
Cardboard Kingdom
Thursday 16 January, 1 - 2.30pm, Elma Turner Library.
Let your imagination run wild!! Build a castle with a drawbridge or a rocket ship to travel to far off planets! Or just get down and crafty in this cardboard makerspace. Your imagination is the limit, don’t let anything hold you back!
This activity is for children ages 5+. Younger children will need the help of a grown up.
Fantastic Fandom Fiesta
Wednesday 22 January, Elma Turner Library.
Join Nelson Public Libraries in celebrating all things sci-fi and fantasy! Lots of fandom fun and activities based on all your favourite comics, movies, games and tv shows!

Tote-ally Crafty - Teen Event

Make your mark on a Tote Bag at Elma Turner Library! Use your sewing, drawing or bedazzling skills to create a bespoke Tote bag that reflects your summer vibe! All materials supplied.

Summer Reading Finale Party
Wednesday 12 February, 3.30 - 5pm, Elma Turner Library.
Celebrate the end of the 2024/2025 Summer Reading Programme “Nelson Reads Together”! We'll reveal the final page count and have a fun filled afternoon of activities, prizes and special guests!
