Nelson Public Libraries is very pleased to announce a new initiative especially for community groups, called Community Threads. We now have 6 new sewing machines available for community groups to use in the library from mid-March onwards.
These are separate from our borrowable sewing machines that are available to the wider public, in that these sewing machines come as a set, can only be used it the library, and come with sewing kits with all the essentials (scissors, pins, measuring tapes, ect.). These set also comes with a space to work in (subject to availability) in our Learning Centre (not to be confused with the larger Rūma Mānuka Activity Room).
This service is free and perfect for groups creating crafts or traditional dress for cultural performance, homeschool groups, environmentally focussed re-purposing/recycling initiatives, community art projects, as well as other possibilities.
